About us

IMPACT HE is an Erasmus+ CBHE project designed to strengthen the capacity of universities and ministries in Africa, specifically in Kenya and Ethiopia, to enhance the management and impact assessment of higher education cooperation initiatives. Despite significant international support, many institutions face challenges in coordination, sustainability, and autonomy in project management.

Our approach addresses these gaps by empowering African universities to take the lead in development initiatives while fostering stronger collaboration between European and African stakeholders. In partnership with the Donor Harmonisation Group (DHG) and key European institutions, we aim to align programs and investments to create lasting impact and enhance Africa’s integration into the European Education Area.

To ensure effective implementation, IMPACT HE is structured with a Project Management Team (PMT), led by Obreal and composed of a nominated representative from each consortium partner. Additionally, the Steering Committee, responsible for strategic oversight, includes Obreal, the associated partners DAAD, Nuffic, and VLIR-UOS, as well as the Ministries of Education of Kenya and Ethiopia. The project also has a Quality Monitoring Committee (QMC), formed by ANIE, AASTU, and JOOUST, which oversees quality assurance and evaluation.

Through IMPACT HE, we promote equitable and sustainable partnerships that strengthen the role of African universities in economic growth, innovation, and social cohesion.
