IMPACT HE participates in the Regional Erasmus+ Cluster Meeting in Ethiopia

The IMPACT HE project took part in the Regional Erasmus+ Cluster Meeting and Contact-Making Seminar for Sub-Saharan Africa, held on 20–21 May 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event brought together representatives of Erasmus+ projects and higher education institutions from across the region, including several African partners of IMPACT HE.

Organised by the European Commission (DG EAC) and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), the meeting focused on the role of education in supporting the green transition, a key priority of the Erasmus+ programme and a central pillar of the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. Discussions highlighted how capacity-building initiatives such as IMPACT HE contribute to climate action and sustainability by strengthening institutional capacities and fostering international cooperation.

Within this framework, a professor from Jimma University represented IMPACT HE in the thematic session “Education institutions as beacons of green behaviour”. The intervention underlined the potential of African universities to take a leading role in promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable practices within their institutions and wider communities.

Following the cluster meeting, IMPACT HE partners from Ethiopia also participated in a monitoring visit held on the morning of 22 May at the EU Delegation to Ethiopia. This session provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and lessons learned with other Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) projects being implemented in the country, further reinforcing dialogue and cooperation among Erasmus+ initiatives in Ethiopia.
